I began playing golf at age 14 and was instantly captured by passion and commitment for the game. As a junior, I competed in tournaments as often as possible, successfully representing the City of Kitchener and Rockway Golf Course as Ontario Junior Team Champions.
I've never lost interest, but as a young husband and dad, I put golf on hold for a while only playing in a few Corporate and Church tournaments each year. In my 40's, I got more serious and by my early 50's was fitting and building custom golf clubs. In coaching new customers while delivering their clubs, I developed a strong interest in teaching the game, passing on to others all that I had learned. I pursued a golf-teaching career, obtaining Certification as a Certified Golf Teaching Professional through the Canadian / U.S. Golf Teacher's Federation. Currently I play a few tournaments annually in the Michigan-Ontario Golf Teacher's Tour and reign as a member of The Canadian Team holding the championship trophy.
I became associated with Sawmill Golf Course, in Niagara Region, becoming Teaching Professional there in 2006. I am joined by Tim Horhota of Golfnutz, sharing clinics and the junior program with him.
As an instructor, I love working with people of every age group, who want to improve their golf skills. My proudest moments are while seeing a client making golf shots they could only dream about before.
A strong emphasis on the Basic Fundamentals, and the Short Game, facilitates growth in hungry players. Dedicated Practice and review of Drills bring a fresh confidence in their ball-striking capabilities.
